Meet Tom Bruce
Tom Bruce is the owner and lead hybridizer at Carolina Daylilies in Lexington, South Carolina. A lifelong plantsman with a passion for cultivating beauty and resilience in the garden, Tom has earned national recognition for his work with daylilies, hostas, and irises. His hybrid Sunny Attitude received the Jeffcoat Hybridizer Award in 2021, and his garden now features more than 63 of his own introductions. In 2024, Tom was elected as a Director of the national Japanese Iris Society and his garden was designated an official Japanese Iris Display Garden, with the honor of hosting the Japanese Iris Society’s national event in 2028. In addition to his national involvement, Tom serves on the Board of Columbia Green and is a frequent speaker and educator, sharing his expertise on topics such as deer-resistant gardening and inspiring others to create thriving, sustainable landscapes rooted in care and craftsmanship.
